Hello, aspiring musician. I’m so happy you are considering having music lessons as a part of your life. My name is Michael Blomenkamp and I’m offering private lessons on many instruments. I was born and raised in Oregon and my musical journey began on guitar when I was about 13. In the same year, I also started playing Trombone. I attended Hillsboro High school (graduated in 2013) and went on to pursue and obtain a music degree from the University of Oregon (graduated in 2018). I recently graduated with my Master's in Teaching from George Fox University (graduated in 2021). I have been in dozens of performing groups from doing guitar work in musical theater productions to being a member of 150+ marching band ensembles. I have taught in public and private academic schools at all grade levels. I have taught adults as well. My approach to music is that anyone can develop an appreciation and learn to play an instrument. My goal as a private teacher is to make my lessons an enjoyable experience. I personalize each lesson to meet the needs of whatever each student is working on. The needs of every single student are different. For instance, I've been helping one student work through various trumpet method books and now I'm starting to teach him the basics of jazz. Another student I have is an adult and just started playing guitar a few years ago but was looking for someone to learn with outside of youtube videos.
